At GPBC we want to actively seek out those in our community to communicate the gospel to them. Our recreational ministries are designed to provide opportunities for our church body to rub shoulders with others in our community.
Upward Youth Basketball
Upward Sports, the world’s largest Christian sports league for children, provides a fun kids sports experience based on healthy competition and an emphasis on sharing the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
From December to February, the GPBC gymnasium is bustling with the sound of bouncing balls, squeaking sneakers and shouts of excitement as our Upward Basketball program runs all week long. Boys and girls, from kindergarten to 8th grade participate in a positive sports program that not only teaches them the aspects of the game, but goes beyond and reaches into areas that conventional sports programs cannot go. Each weekly practice consists of warm-ups, exercises and drills. Then, the teams gather with their coaches for a short devotion time and prayer. This is followed by a short scrimmage game.
